VR204 Digital Audio Logging
Recorder / VP204 Logger Playback Deck

500 Hour Digital DAT-based
Audio Logging Sized And Priced For Smaller Applications.
The digital DAT-based technology
that revolutionized communications and audio logging is now available
in compact, economical 4-channel units. Now full-time logging of telephone
calls, two-way radio communications and broadcasts is practical, convenient
and inexpensive for smaller financial and legal offices, public safety
facilities, law enforcement and broadcast stations. Each tiny DAT tape
can record and play up to 500+ hours, replacing hard to maintain reel-to-reel
hardware and their bulky, expensive tapes. Unreliable, consumer grade
short-run cassette equipment is also rendered obsolete by Eventide 4-channel
communications loggers.
The newest DDS-2 DAT drives are supplied with these units.
Each data grade 120 meter DAT tape has a capacity of 500+ hours, divided
among up to four channels. Shorter 60 and 90 meter tapes are also accommodated.
But that's not all. The VR204 recorder is also equipped with a hard
disk memory module with a capacity of approximately 60 channel-hours
(longer storage capacities are optionally available.) The memory module
can continue to record even if the tape is playing back an earlier segment.
Upon resumption of tape recording, the memory module downloads the audio
that was not recorded in real-time, thus maintaining the completeness
of the taped log. An optional, inexpensive printer can be connected
which automatically prints tape labels.
The Eventide VR204 digital audio logging recorder/player
and the VP204 logger playback deck use the same DAT tapes and recording
format of the 24-channel Eventide VR240 and Dictaphone 9800 units. Any
of the 24 channels on tapes recorded on these machines can be searched
and played back on the Eventide 204 series units - to four channels
can be played simultaneously. And tapes recorded on the 4-channel VR204
can be played back on the 24-channel Eventide VR240 and Dictaphone 9800
units as well. This two-way compatibility makes the VR204 and VP204
ideal companion products to economically enhance the capabilities of
logging systems based on these 24-channel units.
Specific material on the tapes can easily be located. The
operator can search tapes by date, time and channel, as shown on the
unit's two-line LCD display.
Digital logging technology was pioneered by Eventide and
has been proven by thousands of users around the world. The Eventide
VR240 recorder/player and VP244 playback deck bring the many advantages
of digital logging to new applications and an even broader group of
users.
