FEATURES:
- Up to 2,500 Dynamically Allocated Channels -
Plenty of storage for the race track and beyond. 1,600 channels
typical. Actual capacity depends on features used. Your scanner’s
memory is organized so that it more closely matches how radio systems
actually work, making it easier to program and use your scanner
and determine how much memory you have used and how much you have
left.
- Racetrack operation - Easily program and
select the race and drivers you want to listen to.
- Officially licensed by NASCAR,
a registered trademark of the National Association for Stock Car
Auto Racing Inc.
- Enemy Zeroize Memory - When
your scanner is in danger of enemy capture, the BCD396T zeroize
memory feature deletes all preprogrammed data by holding down the
2, 9 and hold keys while turning the scanner on. Erasing memory
deprives the opposition of sensitive programmed frequency and talk
group designator information which could be used for intelligence
purposes. A useful feature for helping you win the global struggle
against violent extremism.
- Close Call RF Capture Technology - You can
you can set the scanner so it detects and provides information about
nearby radio transmissions. Quickly tune to signals from nearby
transmitters.
- Alpha Tagging - Makes it easy to identify
the driver talking.
- Preprogrammed with NASCAR, Craftsman, Indy,
ARCA, Champ series and BUSCH driver race frequencies - So you'll
be ready to listen when they are ready to roll.
- Quick Race Programming –
lets you quickly and easily enter information about a specific race.
- Quick Key System Access - You can set the
scanner so you can select a race or systems and groups by pressing
a single key. This makes it easy to listen to or quickly lock out
those systems or groups you don’t want to scan. Quickly select
the systems or race you want to hear by pressing the 0-9 keys.
- Quick Car Select – You can
set the scanner so you can select and listen to a car by pressing
a single key.
- Pager Screen – You can set
the scanner so it ignores hits generated by common pager frequencies
while using the Close Call or search features.
- Wide Frequency Coverage - 25-54, 108-174, 216-225,
400-512, 806-956 MHz - Indicates the range of frequencies that
can be searched within the bands of your scanner. (Note:
The frequency coverage is not totally continuous from 25.0 MHz to
956 MHz and excludes cellular telephones.)
- CTCSS/CDCSS - (Continuous Tone Controlled
Squelch System - 50), (Continuous Digital Controlled Squelch System
- 103). When activated, the Sportcat will only tune to a frequency
if the associated CTCSS tone or CDCSS tone you have programmed is
included with the transmission. You can also use this feature to
search for a CTCSS tone or CDCSS tone when monitoring a transmission.
Lock in and display the currently used tone instantly. Also prevent
other radio systems from interfering with the drivers you want to
hear.
-
Specific
Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.) weather alert - S.A.M.E.
is NOAA’s coded emergency weather signals that identify a specific
geographic area affected by an emergency. In weather alert with
S.A.M.E. mode, your scanner functions as a county specific all
hazards warning radio. To obtain further information about S.A.M.E.
and FIPS code, visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/index.html.
-
FIPS Code
- This feature allows you to input a six-digit
code Federal Information Processing System
(FIPS) code that will designate a localized severe weather
warning and county all hazards warning. The
BCD396T can decode the 6-digit FIPS code established by the National
Weather Service (NWS). This FIPS code identifies geographic areas
anywhere in the United States, US territories and US possessions.
Programming the FIPS code is necessary to receive S.A.M.E. alerts
about weather occurring in a particular area. To obtain a FIPS
code for your area, call the National Weather Service toll free
at 1-888-697-7263 or visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm#sametable.
- Weather Channels - Lets your scanner function
as a weather information radio.
- 10 Programmable Search Ranges - Help you
find unlisted frequencies in use in your area.
- 12 Preprogrammed Service Searches - Public
Safety, Railroad (by channel), Air, Marine (by channel) CB (by channel)
GMRS/FRS (by channel), Weather, Ham Radio, News Media and Special.
- Lockout – You can lock out
any system, group, frequency, or channel while scanning. If you
lock out a system or group, any channels belonging to that system
or group are also locked out.
You can lock out up to 200 frequencies. The scanner skips locked-out
frequencies while using the Close Call feature or while searching.
- Dropout Delay – You can
set whether the scanner pauses at the end of a transmission to wait
for a reply. You can set the delay time for each system you scan,
and while searching and using the Close Call feature.
- Attenuator – You can set
the scanner’s attenuator to reduce the input strength of strong
signals by about 18 dB received by the scanner.
- Repeater Reverse – You can
set the scanner so it switches to the input frequency on a conventional
repeater system.
- Channel Alert – You can
set the scanner so it alerts you when there is activity on any channel
you specify.
- Memory Check – Lets you
see at a glance how much total memory is left.
- Frequency Step – Lets you
select a frequency step (5, 6.25, 7.5, 10, 12.5,15, 20, 25, 50 or
100 kHz) for manual mode and chain search mode. The scanner’s
auto step feature lets you set the scanner so it automatically chooses
the correct step.
- Quick Recall – Lets you
quickly select a specific channel by choosing the system, group,
and channel.
- Scan/Search Delay – You
can set the scanner so it remains on a frequency up to 5 seconds
after the last transmission to wait for a possible reply.
- Text Tagging – You can name
each race system, conventional system, group, channel, custom search
range, and SAME group, using up to 16 characters per name.
Unique Data Skip – Allows your scanner to
skip unwanted data transmissions and reduces birdies.
Duplicate Frequency Alert – Alerts you if
you try to enter a duplicate name or frequency already stored in
the scanner.
- Memory Backup - If power is lost
of disconnected, the SC230 retains the frequencies you programmed
in its memory.
- Search and Store Operation - Automatically
stores found frequencies in use in your area.

- Twin Turbo: Scan & Search -
This lightning-fast technology enables the Sportcat to scan
nearly 100 channels per second. Search speed is selectable between
100 and 300 steps per second. (300 steps per second only in bands
with 5kHz steps.) Because the frequency coverage is so large, very
fast scanning and searching are essential.
- 22 Frequency Bands - Includes 22 bands
with Aircraft & 800 MHz plus Band Search.
- 29 MHz - 956 MHz - Indicates the range
of frequencies that can be searched within the bands of your scanner.
(Note: The frequency coverage is not totally continuous from
29.0 MHz to 956 MHz.)
- 10 Priority Channels - You can assign one
Priority Channel in each Bank. Assigning priority channels allows
you to keep track of activity on your most important channel(s)
while monitoring other channels for transmissions. (Priority Channels
are initially set in the first channel in each Bank.)
- Memory Backup - The stored channels are
retained in memory permanently.
- Programmable Alpha Characters - You can
program up to 200 channels with alphabetical characters for easy
