The Bearcat
TrunkTracker BC898T is the updated version of the world famous BC895XLT
scanner. Trunktracker III upgraded allows you to keep up with the action
on Motorola (Type I, Type II, and Hybrid on VHF, UHF, 800 MHz and 900
MHz) EDACS and LTR systems. Now it’s easy to monitor fleets and subfleets
in analog trunked radio systems. The BC898T can also work as a conventional
scanner. This 500-channel, programmable base station scanner provides
scanner users with uninterrupted monitoring capabilities of Type I,
II, IIi and hybrid trunking systems. One of the biggest obstacles in
coordinating emergency response has been the increasing use of trunking
radio systems in business and public service agencies throughout the
U.S. and Canada. This makes it nearly impossible to track a conversation
as it moves within a trunk system from frequency to frequency. During
a disaster, it’s essential to be able to monitor response agencies for
proper coordination. You can enhance your national, state and local
security preparedness by being able to continuously monitor conversations
even though the message is switching frequencies. Not compatible with
AGEIS, ASTRO and ESAS systems.
FEATURES:
- 500 Channels - You can program each of
these memory channels to store one frequency.
- 10 Banks - Ten banks of 50 channels are
useful for grouping similar frequencies and selectively scanning
these groups.
- Signal Strength Meter - The BC898T signal
strength meter displays the relative strength of an active transmission
using up to five separate indicators.
- Subaudible Tone Search - Lets
the BC898T search for and identify agencies transmitting CTCSS or
DCS tones. You can identify up to 50 CTCSS tones and 104 DCS tones.
This helps you find stations using these tones.
- 17 Bands
- Includes 17 bands, including aircraft and 800 MHz. excluding cellular
telephones.
- Trunk Scan and Scan Lists - Scan for activity
on one trunk group or create lists of multiple groups to scan like
police, fire, emergency, etc.
- 10 Priority Channels - You can assign one
priority channel in each bank. Assigning a priority channel lets
you keep track of activity on your most important channel(s) while
monitoring other channels for transmissions.
- Variable Frequency Oscillator Control - The
V.F.O. (Rotary Tuner) feature enables rapid and easy selection of
channels and frequencies.
- Auto Store - This feature automatically
searches out and stores frequencies to an available channel location
in any bank and automatically returns to find the next active frequency.
-
National Weather Radio -
Can be programmed to receive special localized weather warnings
broadcast by NOAA and Environment
Canada. The scanner is compatible with
warning siren and message transmissions.
-
Specific
Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.) weather alert - S.A.M.E.
is NOAA’s coded emergency weather signals that identify a specific
geographic area affected by an emergency. Highly recommended by
Communications Electronics, Emergency Operations Center for National
Security and Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP). In weather alert
with S.A.M.E. mode, your scanner functions as a county specific
severe weather warning radio. To obtain further information about
S.A.M.E. and FIPS code, visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/index.html.
-
FIPS Code
- This feature allows you to input a six-digit code Federal
Information Processing System (FIPS) code that will designate
a localized severe weather warning. The
BC796D can decode the 6-digit FIPS code established by the National
Weather Service (NWS). This FIPS code identifies geographic areas
anywhere in the United States, US territories and US possessions.
Programming the FIPS code is necessary to receive S.A.M.E. alerts
about weather occurring in a particular area. To obtain a FIPS
code for your area, call the National Weather Service toll free
at 1-888-697-7263 or visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/nwrsame.htm.
- Chain Search - Lets your BC898T search up
to 10 ranges by selecting specific banks into which you have programmed
search ranges.
- Frequency Step - Lets you select
a frequency step (5, 6.25, 12.5 or 25 kHz) for manual mode and chain
search mode.
- Turbo Scan - This lightning-fast technology
enables the BC 898T to scan and search nearly 100 channels or steps
per second.
- RS232C Port - Allows computer-control of
the scanner via optional hardware.
- Auxiliary Tape Output - The BC 898TT allows
you to record your favorite transmissions while you’re away.
- Manual Channel Access - Go directly to
any channel without stepping through other channels.
- Memory Backup - If power is lost of disconnected,
the scanner retains the frequencies you programmed in its memory.
- Unique Data Skip
- Allows your BC898T to skip unwanted data transmissions and reduces
birdies.
- LCD Back Light
- makes the display easy to see in dim light. You can adjust the
back light and even turn it off.
- Scan/Search Delay - You can set
the scanner so it remains on a frequency two seconds after the last
transmission to wait for a possible reply.
- Programmable Search - This feature allows
you to find new frequencies in any of the bands.
- Channel Lockout Key - This feature allows
you to skip over channels you don’t currently want to hear.
