FEATURES: (New BC246T features in red)

  • Close Call RF Capture Technology - You can set the BC246T so it detects and provides information about nearby radio transmissions. See "Using the Close Call Feature" in the owners manual on the CEI web site.
  • Dynamically Allocated Channel Memory - The BC246T scanner memory is organized so that it more closely matches how radio systems actually work, making it easier to program and use your scanner and determine how much memory you have used and how much you have left.
  • Preprogrammed Systems - The BC246T is preprogrammed with over 400 channels covering police, fire, and ambulance operations in the 25 most populated counties in the United States. A complete list of the scanner's preprogrammed systems is in the owners manual on page 119.
  • Quick Keys - You can set the BC246T so you can select systems and groups by pressing a single key. This makes it easy to listen to or quickly lock out those systems or groups you don't want to scan.
  • Pager Screen - You can set the BC246T so it ignores hits generated by common pager frequencies while using the Close Call or search features.
  • Preprogrammed Service Search (10) - Makes it easy to find interesting frequencies used by public safety, news media TV broadcast audio, Amateur (ham) radio, CB radio, Family Radio Service, special low power, railroad, aircraft, marine, racing and weather frequencies.
  • Lockout - You can lock out any system, group, frequency, or channel while scanning. If you lock out a system or group, any channels belonging to that system or group are also locked out. You can also lock out up to 200 frequencies, The scanner skips locked-out frequencies while using the Close Call feature or while searching.
  • CTCSS/DCS Squelch Modes - This feature allows the user to assign analog and digital subaudible tone codes to a specific frequency in memory. The scanner will also search for unknown CTCSS and DCS tones.
  • Dropout Delay - You can set whether the BC246T pauses at the end of a transmission to wait for a reply. You can set the delay time for each system you scan, and while searching and using the Close Call feature.
  • Attenuator - You can set the BC246T attenuator to reduce the input strength of strong signals by about 18 dB.
  • Repeater Reverse - You can set the BC246T so it switches to the input frequency on a conventional repeater system.
  • Channel Alert - You can set the BC246T so it alerts you when there is activity on any channel you specify.
  • Memory Check - Lets you see at a glance how much total memory is left.
  • Frequency Step - Lets you select a frequency step (5, 6.25, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 20, 25, 50 or 100 kHz) for manual mode and chain search mode. The scanner's auto step feature lets you set the scanner so it automatically chooses the correct step.
  • Quick Recall - Lets you quickly select a specific channel by choosing the system, group, and channel.
  • Scan/Search Delay - You can set the scanner so it remains on a frequency up to five seconds after the last transmission to wait for a possible reply.
  • Text Tagging - You can name each system, group, channel, talk group ID, custom search range, and SAME group using 16 characters per name.
  • Unique Data Skip - Allows the BC246T to skip over unwanted data transmissions and birdies.
  • Duplicate Frequency Alert - Alerts you if you try to enter a duplicate name or frequency already stored in the scanner.
  • Memory Backup - When power is lost or disconnected, your BC246T retains the frequencies that were programmed in memory.
  • 22 Bands - Includes 22 bands, with aircraft and 800 MHz. The BC246T frequency coverage is not continuous and does not include the cellular telephone band.

You must be 100% satisfied with your Bearcat scanner when you order from CEI. All Bearcat scanners purchased directly from CEI are sold for your evaluation and testing for 61 days before you decide to keep it (excluding CEI E-values).

The installation, possession, or use of any radio receiver in a motor vehicle may be prohibited, regulated, or require a permit in certain states, cities and/or local jurisdiction. Your local law enforcement officers should be able to provide this information regarding the laws in your community. Click here for more information on scanning legally.

Features, specifications, availability of optional accessories or database services are all subject to change without notice.

Performance on digital systems can vary due to signal quality, multipath interference, and cellular interference. Unlike analog trunking, where you can hear the audio with some interference mixed in, interference in a digital system completely blocks the signal. If you do not get good digital reception, we recommend the purchase of the optional ANTMMBNC magnetic mount antenna. Using this antenna, adjust your location and the position of the antenna until reception improves.
