BCT15 FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS:
- Fire Tone Out Decoder
—This feature lets you set the BCT15 to alert you
if your selected two-tone sequential paging tones are received.
Ideal for on-call firefighters, emergency response staff and for
activating individual scanners used for incident management and
population attack warning. To purchase a Fire Tone Out Encoder transceiver,
useful for remotely activating fire pagers, tornado and enemy tactical
attack siren warning systems, click
here.
- 2,500 Dynamically
Allocated Channels in Up To 500 Systems —
provides you with plenty of room for all your local action.
- BearTracker™
Warning System — alerts you when channels
normally used by public safety systems are in use nearby.
- State-by-State Preprogrammed
Channels — let you easily keep up with activity
on local police, Department of Transportation, and Highway Patrol
frequencies when you travel, without having to program any channels.
- Enemy Zeroize Memory
- When your scanner is in danger of enemy capture, the BCT15 zeroize
memory feature deletes all preprogrammed data by holding down the
2, 9 and hold keys while turning the scanner on. Erasing memory
deprives the opposition of sensitive programmed frequency and talk
group designator information which could be used for intelligence
purposes. A useful feature for helping you win the global struggle
against violent extremism.
- Close Call™
Radio Frequency Capture Technology –
Close Call exclusive technology locks onto nearby radio transmissions,
even if you haven't programmed anything into your scanner. This
is the easiest way ever to keep up with what is going on around
you. Ideal for intelligence agencies for use at events where you
don't have advance notice or knowledge of the radio communications
systems and assets that you need to intercept and monitor.
- Close Call Do Not
Disturb — checks for Close Call activity in
between channel reception so active channels are not interrupted
- Close Call Temporary
Store — temporarily stores and scans the last
10 Close Call hits so that you can continue to monitor activity
on these frequencies, even after you are out of Close Call detection
range.
- Free - Uniden Advanced
Scanner Director Demo software - When you purchase your
Bearcat BCT15 scanner from Communications Electronics, you also
get access to free demo software from Uniden. For an additional
$29.95, Uniden will e-mail you a software activation key to unlock
the full version of the BCT15UASD software. Click
here for the Uniden BCT15 software activation purchase page.

memory is backed up during operation and retained when power is
turned off.
- Audio Automatic Gain
Control (AGC) — helps to balance the audio
level from different sources.
- Record Out
— you can connect an output jack to a VOX controlled recorder
or PC sound input to record the received audio.
- Orange Wire Vehicle
Connection — a special wire lets you connect
to the dimmer circuit of your vehicle so the vehicle’s dimmer
also dims the scanner’s lighting.
- Startup Configuration

Emergency Alert, Close Call, Tone-Out, and GPS.
- Alert Plus Scan
— lets you listen to only alerts from BearTracker systems
or groups, Close Call, Weather (WX), and GPS.
- Channel Alert
— lets you assign a tone to a channel so that when the channel
becomes active, the tone sounds.
- Channel Memory Scan
— you can scan conventional and trunked system channels at
the same time with programming.
- CTCSS/DCS Search
— quickly determines the CTCSS/DCS sub-audible tones used
by an agency.
- Convenient Lockout
— lets you lockout any system, site, group, or channel so
that item is skipped during scanning. If a system, site, or group
is locked, the channels of that entity will be skipped.
- Custom Search
— lets you program up to 10 search ranges and scan each in
order.
- Dropout Delay
— lets you set a time value so that you don’t miss a
reply at the end of a transmission. The value can be set for systems
(all channels share the same value), as well as Search, Close Call,
and Tone-Out settings.
- Priority Plus
— this option lets you scan and hear only priority channels.

you have programmed as a dangerous road, dangerous intersection,
or a general point of interest.
Weather with SAME Alert
- Weather and SAME/FIPS Alert
— your BCT15 scanner receives your area NOAA broadcast and
can be programmed to receive SAME Event Codes using FIPS codes for
area specific data.
-
Specific
Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.) weather alert - S.A.M.E.
is NOAA’s coded emergency weather signals that identify a specific
geographic area affected by an emergency. In weather alert with
S.A.M.E. mode, your scanner functions as a county specific all
hazards warning radio. To obtain further information about S.A.M.E.
and FIPS code, visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/index.html.
-
FIPS Code
— This
feature allows you to input a six-digit code Federal
Information Processing System (FIPS) code that will designate
a localized severe weather warning and county all hazards warning.
The BCT15 can decode the 6-digit
FIPS code established by the National Weather Service (NWS). This
FIPS code identifies geographic areas anywhere in the United States,
US territories and US possessions. Programming the FIPS code is
necessary to receive S.A.M.E. alerts about weather occurring in
a particular area. To obtain a FIPS code for your area, call the
National Weather Service toll free at 1-888-697-7263 or visit
http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm#sametable.
- WX Priority
— you will know immediately when a weather alert is transmitted
on a NOAA weather channel.
- WX Scan
— lets to quickly find the best weather channel for your geographic
location.
