RELM WIRELESS Begins Taking Orders for EarthLoc Personal Tracking Systems

RELM WIRELESS Begins Taking Orders for EarthLoc Personal Tracking SystemsWEST MELBOURNE, FL. May 2, 2002 – RELM Wireless Corporation (NASDAQ: RELM) a manufacturer, developer, and distributor of wireless land mobile radio (LMR) products announced today that it has begun taking orders for its EarthLoc Tracking Systems.

EarthLoc is a compact global positioning based system for monitoring the location of individual radio users and assets. The design of the system allows for instant "plug and play" operation in RELM's BK Radio products. With each radio transmission by the radio user his or her location is reported on the windows based mapping program that is included with each EarthLoc base system. A single base system can keep track of up to 999 individual field units.

The real time tracking information allows a communications coordinator to move people and assets where they are most needed. Unit history storage allows for reviewing the movement of any given EarthLoc unit over any period of time allowing for post incident assessment. The EarthLoc base unit can also be programmed to auto track individual field units at time intervals determined by the operator.

Field units are equipped with an emergency button for instant notification to the dispatcher. Emergency notification is presented with a flashing red display as well as an audio alarm indicating which unit sent the signal and from where the signal was generated.

"Vehicle location devices have been available for some time but until now, due to cost and size issues, individual location has not been a realistic concept", said Devra Herlin, Vice President of Government Sales. "EarthLoc's real time tracking and emergency notification give incident managers more control over assets as well as an extra measure of safety."

The compact size and intuitive operation make the EarthLoc system a truly unique and valuable tool for any communications officer. To place an order or get more information about the EarthLoc System contact Communications Electronics Government Sales at 1-800-USA-SCAN.

EarthLoc systems are available for BK Radio portable and mobile radios.
